SALT LAKE CITY — As the 2024 presidential election approaches, donations for President Joe Biden’s campaign in Utah are outpacing those of former President Donald Trump in the state, despite Utah being a red state.
The Federal Election Commission shows Biden has raised more than a million dollars here in Utah. And, Trump has raised around 750,000.
However, KSL at Night host and political consultant Taylor Morgan said this doesn’t necessarily indicate how Utahns will vote, come November.
“Utah might end up donating more to President Biden than to former President Donald Trump,” he said. “Even though Donald Trump will carry Utah, probably, by at least 20 points if not more.”
Morgan noted that Biden and his wife have visited Utah this campaign cycle to fundraise in Park City.
“Despite the political support in Utah for former President Trump, there is a lot of money here to oppose Donald Trump as well,” he said.
Park City is a place where there are a lot of wealthy democrat donors, Morgan said.
“I do think it’s important and goes to show that Park City, especially, is still a very very lucrative ATM for democratic presidential fundraising,” he said. “It always has been.”
Meanwhile, Trump has yet to make it to the Beehive State this go around.
