SALT LAKE CITY  – A storm making its way the Wasatch Front will bring valley rain and significant mountain snow.

Temperatures could also get cold enough for valley snow. However, National Weather Service senior Meteorologist Monica Trap Hagan said the snow probably won’t stick.

“High temperatures will struggle to reach values ten degrees below normal for this time of year,” she says, “For the Wasatch Front, that means high temperatures around forty.”

Valleys will likely see rain and winds leading up the storm but Hagan recommends drivers be careful in the mountains.

“We’re looking at primarily 6 to 12 inches in the mountains of northern Utah,” she said, “And that amount of snow will make travel difficult across the mountains tonight and into Saturday morning.”

According to Hagan the upper Cottonwoods will be hit particularly hard, but the storm should pass by tomorrow evening.
