Winter storms slated to hit much of Utah through the weekend

SALT LAKE CITY — A winter storm warning has been issued for several parts of Utah, as the storms are lining up to move through Utah this weekend. The first storm is expected this hit Friday afternoon.
According to the KSL Weather Center, there could also be wind gusts of 15 to 25 mph with Friday’s snow.
According to KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson, an arctic cold front will make its way over the Idaho border between 1 and 3 p.m. The storm arrives at the northern Wasatch Front between 6 and 8 p.m.
The next few days could bring significant totals to the state.
“We could be talking 5 to 11 inches in the valleys, and the mountains will be thriving. We could be adding another 25 to 50 inches of snow,” said Johnson.
The National Weather Service said the snow and wind out of the west desert could make for rough driving conditions later, especially from Tremonton to the Idaho border.

National Weather Service Lead Meteorologist Christine Kruse told KSL NewsRadio Friday morning an arctic cold front is making it’s way in from the Pacific Northwest.
