Utah ranks seventh in best access to Grade A hospitals

SALT LAKE CITY — A recent study found Utah has the seventh best access to Grade A hospitals in the nation.
The study was performed by Duffy & Duffy, a medical malpractice law firm. The firm used the hospital safety grade and state population data, to determine a state ranking in terms of access to Grade A level hospitals.
The safety grade allocates a safety score for hospitals in each state. Additionally, this provides information on how likely patients are to experience accidents, injuries, harm, or error during hospitalization.
Like in school, an A is the highest possible score, and an F is the lowest.
Furthermore, there are 27 hospitals around the state of Utah. According to the study, 15 of those scored (55.6%) Grade A in regard to medical safety. The study says 224,033 residents of Utah were treated at hospitals with an acceptable safety ranking.
Mississippi topped the list with the best access to medical care. There are 44 hospitals in Mississippi. According to the study, 15 of those (35%) had Grade A safety scores.
Maine, Virginia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania rounded out the top five.
At the other end of the barrow, North Dakota, Wyoming and West Virginia finished last. According to the study, those three states had the lowest accessibility to Grade A hospital care.
