SPANISH FORK, Utah — A road rage incident early Friday morning killed one person in Spanish Fork. 

According to the Spanish Fork Police, they were called to the incident around 2:15 a.m. near 800 North Highway 6.

According to a police statement, the caller was stopped at a traffic light when a driver pulled alongside him and stared at him.  The caller continued eastbound on Highway 6 to 2550 East and the other vehicle began to follow him and began ramming the caller’s car. 

The person reported the incident turned off of Highway 6 and drove to Canyon Road where he then went westbound.  The suspect continued to follow and attempted to ram the victim.  

Police arrived to see the suspect vehicle in the area of 600 East Canyon Road. An officer attempted a traffic stop in the area of 400 East 300 South. However, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. 

The officer could not keep up with the suspect and lost sight of the car.

The officer located the car, it had collided with a large tree in the front yard of a residence. Officers and first responders performed life-saving measures on the scene but the driver was declared deceased.

The person killed is a 27-year-old man from Springville, Utah.                                                   

The Utah County Officer Involved Critical Incident team is conducting an investigation.
