Luge World Cup returns to Utah with free admission

PARK CITY, Utah — Sliding centers are reopening as the Luge World Cup returns to Olympic Park this winter for the first time in six years.
The International Luge Federation, FIL, and its World Cup are making seven stops in North America. The third stop will be in Park City on Dec. 16 and 17 just after visiting Whistler, Canada.
Named the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup, it has not returned to North America in three years because of pandemic health regulations.
According to a press release, the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup quotas for women’s and men’s participation are equal for the first time this season. This means the same amount of men and women will race.
Regulation rules say the artificially made track is over 3,200 feet long for men and just over 2,600 feet for women.
Sliders can reach up to 80 mph speeds on the track. But if you finish the race without your sled, you are disqualified.
Admission is free for all attendees according to the Utah Olympic Legacy website. Men’s and women’s doubles start tomorrow at 2 p.m.
