DAYBREAK, Utah — The Larry H. Miller Company said they are 100% confident they can have the new Bees stadium in Daybreak ready for the team’s first home game on April 8. Additionally, they said there are contingency plans in the works if Mother Nature gets in the way.
There are just six months until the first home game.
“Our contractors have been amazing. And yeah, we couldn’t be happier with where we sit today,” said Brad Holmes, the Larry H. Miller real estate president.
According to Holmes, the focus is to get most of the buildings and stadium exteriors done before winter. Then, they can cover the indoor fixtures until spring.
Holmes said the timeline is tight. However, they have 200-300 workers on the site every day to help meet deadlines.
“[There’s] a very heavy contingent of construction workers that come in and work 12-hour days here, but it’s it’s a tight timeline. We’re trying to get as much done as we can before winter. The outfield grass gets planted in the month of October so it can have a growing season before opening day,” said Holmes.
“We’re really working all around the outside of the ballpark and then trying to finish up this square. So [it’s a] daily effort.”
What about winter?
Holmes said that crews have experienced building through the winter.
“They know what to expect in Utah. Now, we could get something very crazy. That’s probably the only thing that could really set us back,” said Holmes. “But today we’re pushing forward. Everyone on our team would say, it’s April 8. We’ll be ready for opening day…”
