Pickleball Tournament of Champions hosted in Utah

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah — Professional pickleball players have gathered in northern Utah to compete in the Vulcan Tournament of Champions.
Hundreds of professional pickleball players are in Brigham City, including several top-ranked Utahns.
Professional Pickleball Association Tour players Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns will participate in the PPA event. They are both number 1 in their categories, they also hold exclusive contracts with the PPA Tour.
Players are going for their share of $250,000 dollars in prize money, the competition includes both men’s and women’s singles and mixed doubles. The event began Aug. 15 and extends through Aug. 19, with the final being played this Saturday. Along with the pros, 650 amateur athletes are also participating.
Kensey Slone, a local pickleball player, says she is excited the event is in the state.
“I’m not competing, but I definitely am going to be tuning in. We are excited to get the sport more prevalent here in Utah.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the tournament. Brigham City has been hosting the event since 2015.
Slone encourages everyone to pick up a paddle, get to Brigham City, and enjoy the tournament. Tickets start at $25 for the five-day event and can be purchased online. You can also watch live on their YouTube channel.
