Utah Jazz celebrate 333 consecutive sold-out home games

SALT LAKE CITY — While Friday’s game was a disappointing end to a tough season, the Utah Jazz kept drawing crowds to the Delta Center. Friday was the 333rd consecutive sold-out home game for the team.

“It’s rare for an NBA team and I think it speaks to the community at large and the fandom that runs deep here in Utah for the Jazz,” said Tumua Tavana, head of membership for the Utah Jazz.

Tavana has worked with the Jazz for nine years and she’s noticed Jazz games have become a tradition for many people, especially families. And many of those families have been ticket holders for several generations. But the sold-out games aren’t the only thing Jazz fans can be proud of — home game attendance at the Delta Center is number #15 in the NBA according to espn.com.

“We kind of out-kick our coverage in some ways because we do have a smaller arena,” said Tavana.

The Delta Center holds 18,306 spectators, while other stadiums like the Capitol One arena where the Wizards play in Washington D.C. holds 20,356. The Wizards are #28 on the list for attendance.

Fan loyalty, 333 sold out games

The franchise is pleased that the fans are loyal and passionate whether the Jazz are winning or losing.

“There’s still a fanbase here that’s just excited to cheer on these young guys.  They have an excitement for where we’re at, but also an excitement for where we could go,” said Tavana.
