Crash with diesel spill on Bangerter Highway affects morning commute

SALT LAKE CITY — Two vehicles crashed on Bangerter Highway over Interstate 15 in Draper early Monday morning.

Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash involved a pickup truck, and about 80 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the vehicle, causing hazmat crews and environmental officers to respond, along with police.

All westbound lanes of Bangerter Highway were closed for several hours. Only one eastbound lane was open, and drivers exiting from I-15 in both directions were detoured while the fuel was cleaned up.

All lanes were reopened at approximately 7:16 a.m.
