Abandoned puppy finds a home at the Price Police Department

SALT LAKE CITY — Price City Police Department has a new family member. PeeDee, a puppy, was found on the side of a road in Price City and was taken in by the police.

According to the PCPD’s Facebook page, PeeDee was found around 7:30 p.m., after the department was dispatched to the scene regarding the puppy being found.

The box included the puppy’s breed and vaccination records, but no information about the dog’s possible owner.  So, he was turned into the police department.

Members of the PCPD put out feelers and called animal control almost daily to check if anyone had reported a missing puppy.  All the while, people at the department grew attached.

“We pretty much adopted him since no one came forward,” Brandon Sicilie, Chief of Police for PCPD Brandon Sicilie said.  

“So, we decided since he’s done so much for us already – he’s so cuddly – why don’t we just have him be our emotional support dog?” 

They decided that the best name for the pup is PeeDee, since he’s now living at the P.D.

PeeDee spends his days hanging out at the department. At night, he goes home with the police chief.

“We want to get him certified so he can be used as Trial Support at court hearings for all of our first responders and any victim that’s suffered traumatic experiences,” Sicilie said.

Even though PeeDee isn’t certified yet, he’s already filling the role of an emotional support dog.

“We had kind of a run-in here in our foyer with a complainant,” Sicilie said.

“It was just immediately after the complainant left, that we able to adapt the situation with the dog and not be so angry at the end of it.”
