SANDY, Utah — A malfunction inside a Quick Quack Car Wash early Tuesday evening in Sandy sent several people to the hospital with injuries. Furthermore, the malfunction damaged three vehicles in total. One of the vehicle’s sunroofs broke and shattered onto the passengers. The back window of the other two vehicles broke.
According to Sgt. Greg Moffitt, of the Sandy Police Department, a truck going through the car wash caused the malfunction. The brushes of the car wash picked up an extension cord, or something similar. Then, the brush started swinging the extension cord around inside the car wash. According to Moffitt, the cord struck the driver, who suffered injuries.
Sandy Fire Department said one person with moderate injuries went to the hospital. Additionally, three other individuals had minor injuries and two individuals drove themselves to the hospital.
The Sandy Fire Department said the call came in at 5:36 p.m.
