MIDVALE — According to the Unified Fire Authority, a structure fire occurred early Saturday morning, which is believed to be caused by a fan in the bathroom ceiling.
Kelly Bird with the UFA said the fire started in an apartment building at 7940 S. Main St.
Bird said the call came in around 12:25 a.m., when the first crew on the scene began evacuating all units in the building.
Multiple fire crews helped at the scene including Sandy Fire, West Jordan Fire, Draper Fire, and South Salt Lake Fire.
During the investigation, Bird said the fire was caused by a bathroom ceiling fan, the fire then spread through the ceiling and walls and into the two apartments above.
UFA said three units received fire damage, whereas the bottom 12 units flooded due to a water line breaking.
“Pretty much all units have smoke damage on varying levels,” Bird said.
UFA said Red Cross was requested to the scene for displaced tenants. There have been no injuries reported.
