Multiple crashes cause big delays for drivers in Utah and Salt Lake counties

SALT LAKE CITY — Several crashes in Utah and Salt Lake counties this morning caused headaches during the commute.
The first one in Provo just before the University Avenue exit about 7:50 a.m. was blocking two left lanes of the freeway, backing up traffic into Springville.

Shortly after, another crash occurred on northbound I-15 at the top of the on-ramp from Pleasant Grove which blocked three right lanes. That caused delays to 800 North in Orem.

Just as the morning driving was winding down at 8:50 a.m., the worst crash of the morning happened in the Salt Lake Valley.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden said this was a five-car accident approaching the 9000 South exit in Sandy, blocking center lanes of travel. A black SUV wound up on top of a white van.
Roden said one individual was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
All lanes of northbound I-15 in Sandy were reopened by 10:28 a.m.

Once emergency crews arrived, they blocked off four right lanes of the freeway to investigate and clean up. Traffic came to a near stop from 14600 South in Bluffdale up to the crash site in Sandy.
Another crash in Utah County on northbound I-15 occurred about 9:15 a.m. at the 400 South Springville exit. That one blocked two left lanes and backed up traffic into Spanish Fork. It was cleared by 10 a.m.
