PARK CITY — Recent storms delivered some of Utah’s first mountain snow collections of the season, leaving many skiers and snowboarders eager for the next winter season to begin.

Deer Valley Ski Resort plans to open to season passholders on Nov. 29 and to the general public on Dec. 1, more than a month away. The resort is showcasing nearly 80 new runs made available with the addition of seven new lifts set to open this season, as its massive expansion plan continues.

This year’s map captures a significant moment in Deer Valley’s history. With more lifts, more runs and a greatly expanded footprint, it reflects how far we’ve come in realizing our vision to elevate the Deer Valley experience while still maintaining the character and care that define our resort,” said Susie English, the resort’s vice president of marketing, in a statement on Friday.

Deer Valley acquired 3,700 acres of terrain in an agreement with Extell Development Company in 2023, when the resort announced its ambitious plan to eventually add 37 chairlifts serving more than 200 ski runs across 5,726 acres, along with over 1,500 residential units and hundreds of new hotel rooms.

The seven new chairlifts include the East Village Express, which is a 10-passenger gondola that connects Deer Valley East Village to Park Peak. They link skiers of different abilities to the dozens of new routes, such as the 4.8-mile-long Green Monster that runs from the top of Park Peak to the Deer Valley East Village base area.

It tacks onto the three chairlifts and 20 new runs added last season, as the plan slowly comes together. There are now over 4,300 acres of skiable terrain available at the resort, which executives point out is more than double its size before the expansion project began.

More features are on the horizon, too. The resort says it plans to open new terrain and lifts at Hail Peak next season, before shifting its focus to new development on South Peak sometime after that.
