PARK CITY, Utah — Deer Valley Ski Resort announced that it is taking on a series of projects to upgrade the guest experience, including more skiers-only terrain.

The resort called the project “Expanded Excellence” in a press release. The expansions will happen in a series of projects, which will include the addition of more ski terrain.

The expansions will absorb the land that was formerly being developed as Mayflower Mountain Resort into Deer Valley.

Ski terrain

Phase one will include the addition of 3,700 skiable acres. The new acreage will be served by 16 new chairlifts and a 10-passenger gondola, according to the press release.

Deer Valley said the terrain expansions will open over a number of seasons. As many as 2,900 acres with 110 runs are expected to be opened as early as the 2025-2026 season.

In its entirety, the “Expanded Excellence” project will more than double the amount of skiable terrain inside the resort. Upon completion, the ski resort will offer more than 5,726 acres. The 238 ski runs will be served by 27 chairlifts. All of the terrain will feature grooming that “adheres to Deer Valley’s existing standards.” It will be supported by “a new cutting-edge snowmaking system,” according to the press release.

New amenities

The expansion will also include a new base area, which will be accessible via U.S. Route 40.

“This expansion will facilitate even better access to the resort for our guests while offering a substantial increase in world-class amenities consistent with the resort’s original vision,” said Todd Bennett, the president and COO of Deer Valley Resort.

The new base area, which is being referred to as the village, is being envisioned in partnership with Extell Development Company. It is expected to include more than 800 hotel rooms, 1,700 residential units, and 250,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. There will also be 68,000 square feet for recreational uses in the new village.

“Rooted in history and guided by possibility, the resort is embarking on a multiyear mission to continue elevating the guest experience,” said the press release. Deer Valley has long been known for its high-quality guest experience and world-class amenities.
