Billboard businessman sues University of Utah Hospital for negligence in wife’s death

SALT LAKE CITY — A lawsuit filed last Friday by Utah businessman Bill Reagan accuses University of Utah Hospital of medical negligence that led to the death of his wife.
His wife was Julia Reagan, who was memorialized on billboards across Utah.

Court documents obtained by KSL reveal that Julia began feeling sick on June 10, 2024, shortly after returning from a routine checkup at the Mayo Clinic.
She took pain medication to manage her symptoms. The following day, she was admitted to University of Utah Hospital.
Suit claims Julia Reagan wasn’t properly monitored
The lawsuit alleges that Julia Reagan was not adequately monitored, despite being placed on a watch list for patients at risk of inhaling vomit. It claims she vomited multiple times overnight, resulting in catastrophic lung and brain injuries.
Bill Reagan is seeking unspecified damages, asserting that medical negligence contributed to his wife’s death.
In response, University of Utah Hospital stated that patient care is their top priority but declined to comment on specific patient cases or ongoing litigation via email statement.
