Motorcyclist killed in high-speed crash on State Street

MIDVALE — A motorcyclist is dead after crashing at high speed on State Street late Wednesday night, police said.

Aymee Race with the Unified Police Department said 24-year-old Raul Alexis Silvasanchez-Stockseth was riding northbound through the intersection of State Street and 8000 South at approximately 11 p.m. when a car tried to make a left turn to go west. The motorcycle crashed into that vehicle.

When emergency crews arrived, bystanders were already trying to help Silvasanchez-Stockseth, Race said. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but he died.

Race said the driver of the other vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperating with police. She said charges were pending the investigation of the accident.
