SALT LAKE CITY — Utah pharmacists can now provide the COVID-19 vaccine without a prescription, according to the Utah Division of Professional Licensing.
In a press release, DOPL Division Director Mark Steinagel stated that this announcement follows recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices:
Utah pharmacists have the authority to prescribe and administer the 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with the latest voted on and approved recommendations from ACIP. Pharmacists are also able to delegate the administration of 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine to trained pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians.”
According to Melanie Hall, spokesperson for the Utah Department of Commerce, this could change, and the Department of Health and Human Services could issue its own guidance to doctors.
This is a breaking news story. It may be updated.
