SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s office has identified the man who died while duck hunting at Great Salt Lake earlier this week.
Kenneth Hill, age 81, died at the scene on Oct. 22. He and another man, Vince Badger, along with a dog, were duck hunting in an area described by Salt Lake County as the duck marshes of Great Salt Lake.
Officials said that Badger and Hill were out of their boat recovering duck decoys when Badger noticed Hill face down in the water.
Badger reportedly took Hill’s body to a nearby island and performed CPR.
Meanwhile, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Department of Public Safety, Salt Lake City Fire, and Salt Lake City Police worked together to find the men.
Eventually, they located the men’s boat and dog, and determined that Hill had died.
At the time of the drowning, Salt Lake County Sheriff Communications and PR manager Chris Bronson said alcohol was a contributing factor.
An investigation continues.
