Overnight power outages impacted at least 7,400 customers from Utah to Tooele counties

SALT LAKE CITY — Rocky Mountain Power Company reported 25 power outages overnight and into Tuesday morning, impacting around 7,400 customers. Later on Tuesday morning, there were more outages in the Salt Lake valley.

The outages were recorded in Tooele and Utah counties. Rocky Mountain Power had not specified the cause as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, but an untimely snowstorm could have been a factor with a recorded 3.4 inches of snowfall overnight in Salt Lake City, according to KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson.

There were approximately 1,000 people affected in Tooele and about 6,600 affected in Utah County.

Reports came in for areas near Payson, Santaquin and Mona around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night. Outages in Tooele were first reported around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The fix, according to Rocky Mountain Power’s interactive map, showed before 7:30 a.m. in Utah County as of approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday. Tooele’s estimated fix time was set for before 5 p.m.

Later Tuesday morning, there were more outages reported across the Wasatch Front, totaling about 3,000.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the power outages.
