Park City bomb threat confirmed hoax by police

SALT LAKE CITY — A bomb threat issued in Park City on Saturday has been confirmed to be a hoax, according to the Park City Police Department.
Lt. Danielle Snelson with the Park City Police Department said Summit County Dispatch had received a call claiming that a bomb had been planted inside the Egyptian Theater in Park City along Main Street.
Police said the area was cleared immediately, and businesses on Main Street and Swede Alley were evacuated as a precaution. K-9 units trained in explosive detection swept through the building, determining that no explosives or anything else suspicious was in the theater or surrounding area.
Snelson said Main Street had been reopened to regular traffic.
“Authorities appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience while officers ensured the safety of the area,” Snelson said in a press release.
The incident is still under investigation. No additional information is available at this time, though police said they plan to release more information as it becomes available.
