SALT LAKE CITY — Monopoly is making a special edition of the famous board game, based on Utah’s capital city.

The Salt Lake City edition is set to come out in summer 2026, taking about a year to evolve from an idea to a tangible version on the shelves.

“We think it’s going to be a perfect city for it,” said Aaron Green, sales executive for Top Trumps USA. “The size of Salt Lake City is perfect, and it’s obviously a big family atmosphere.”

He said there’s a lot that goes into choosing a city, including population, demographics and their retail footprint.

For the next year, Green and his team with Top Trumps USA will meet with local businesses, civic leaders, the mayor’s office and Visit Salt Lake to represent the city the best they can.

The company is also encouraging residents to make suggestions for what should be on the board. It will take suggestions for the next few months, until December 26.

“We want people to send in those ideas of their favorite little ice cream shop that’s been around for 50 years, or maybe a famous soda shop, or a basketball team that they’ve been rooting for for decades,” Green said. “Those are the things we want to see in the game.”

Green said they would love to see suggestions for things that are important to Salt Lakers, like sports teams, parks, local businesses, hotels, museums, recreation areas or places with rich history and heritage.

“It’s really working with the city leaders and business owners that make this game happen so quickly,” Green said. “They provide the image of their business or park that they want to see on the board, and then we design the box, lid and the board montage with those images.”

Anyone with an idea on what should be featured on the 22 squares is encouraged to send an email to saltlakecity@toptrumps.com.
