SALT LAKE CITY — The Unified Police Department has confirmed that a previously missing 37-year-old man was found dead on Tuesday.

UPD identified the man as 37-year-old Devon O’Connell from Cottonwood Heights.

UPD Sgt. Melody Culter said O’Connell was an experienced skier and authorities are still looking to determine his cause of death.

According to Cutler, the search for O’Connell began with a call that came in just before 7 p.m. Monday night. O’Connell was reportedly due back at 2 p.m that day.

Cutler said he was last seen around noon and, “His vehicle is in the parking lot up there at Solitude.”

Cutler said authorities sent drones into the area to search as well.

The search paused due to weather conditions around 1:30 a.m. and resumed at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Cutler noted that darkness and weather played a big factor in ending the search efforts on Monday.
