SLC food trucks donating lunches to shelters throughout the month

SALT LAKE CITY — Several food truck owners are getting together to make lunches for five shelters in Salt Lake County as a way to give back to the community.
Ruben Sauyun, owner and operator of the Bomb Dilla food truck organized the effort and got other food trucks to go along.
As November is usually slow for food trucks, it’s a perfect time to give back, Sauyun said.
“This year we’re adding another shelter and I have about nine food trucks that are going to come to help us out this year,” Sayun said
“I think in total, we’re looking about being close to 1500 meals, just for lunch. Each food truck is going to donate pretty much about 150 to 200 meals off of their food truck.” Sauyun said.
The initiative will start next Monday and they hope this initiative lasts all month long.
Sauyun is asking the community to donate gently used or new coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and hand warmers.
These items should be dropped off before Monday at any of the participating food trucks.
