New distribution center dedicated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

SALT LAKE CITY — A new global Distribution Services Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated Thursday by Bishop Gérald Caussé of the Presiding Bishopric.

The facility will now allow the church to ship scriptures and other church materials more effectively to church members around the world.

The new state-of-the-art facility is 339,000 square feet. It is located on the city’s west side in an industrial area near Salt Lake City International Airport. There are 17 other smaller church warehouses around the world.

“Everywhere we have a member we need to get them essential materials. So, they can make and keep sacred covenants,” said Nelson Gonzalez, director of Global Distribution Services for the Church’s Materials Management Department, in a church news release. “This facility ships about 75 percent of the Church’s total volume to our members throughout the world,” 

According to the release, the church expects the distribution center will ship roughly 40 million items annually. Those items will ship to members around the world. Currently, the church population stands at roughly 17 million.
