Police arrest Taylorsville man after finding drugs and firearms

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police Department says a man was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a restricted person and distribution of controlled substance.
SLCPD said in a news release that police searched two different locations with two separate search warrants at 1 a.m. on Thursday. Police said they received information back in 2024 about 20-year-old Lyjah Fritz, leading to the search.
“This investigation started in 2024, when detectives received information about Fritz allegedly distributing drugs and being in illegal possession of a firearm,” the news release said.
Officers said the SLCPD SWAT Team searched one location at 6810 S. 345 E in Midvale, while the West Valley City Police Department SWAT Team searched another location at 3974 West Ridgecrest Dr. in Taylorsville.
“During their investigation, detectives found two guns, seven pounds of suspected marijuana, more than 300 THC cartridges, nearly a pound of dab marijuana, ammunition, and $1,645 in cash,” the news release stated.
Police said Fritz was arrested by the SLCPD Gang Unit and was charged with “being in unlawful possession of a firearm by a restricted person and distribution of controlled substance.”
