SLCPD issued Amber Alert on Friday; child is found safe and sound

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department issued an Amber Alert late Friday afternoon.
Authorities issued the warning at 5:02 p.m. They sought 28-year-old Madison Felts who was traveling with her newborn son. Her son was born in July. She had been traveling in a white Volkswagen Tiguan.
About an hour later, Felts was taken into custody by SLCPS officers at Gateway. Her child was safe and was in the care of first responders.
“When the Amber Alert went out this afternoon it became an All Hands on Deck situation for SLCPD,” said SLCPD spokesman Brent Weisberg. “Undercover officers in the area assisted with the search at the Gateway. It was a uniformed officer who noticed a woman that fit the description of the suspect and made contact and took her into custody.”
Later Friday evening, Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown went to social media to thank all involved in the search.

SLCPD is still investigating the incident.
