DRAPER, Utah — Two homes located in Draper City collapsed when the soil below them gave way on Saturday, April 22. The sliding soil and homes closed both Ann’s Trail and Clark’s Trail.

The Draper City Police Department urges the public to stay away from Springtime Rd. and the adjacent neighborhood.

Both homes were evacuated prior to the collapse in October 2022, after Draper City’s building official issued a notice revoking the Certificates of Occupancy.

A Facebook post from the police department said both homes were deemed unfit for occupancy due to dangerous environmental conditions.

“The conditions were related to earth shifting that resulted in sliding and breaks in the homes’ foundations,” read the Facebook post.

The developer, Edge Homes, said in a release that following the evacuations, plans were set to stabilize and repair the homes. However, with winter conditions and record snowfall, those efforts were put on hold and ultimately the homes collapsed.

Both homeowners will be fairly compensated for the unsalvagable homes and inconvenience, said the release.

With the snowpack melting, two adjacent homes have been evacuated.
