SALT LAKE CITY — Jewish community leaders in Utah are remembering those lost one year ago today during the October 7 attacks on Israel.
The October 7 attacks at the Nova Music Festival left more than a thousand people dead and several hundred taken hostage by Hamas.
Rabbi Avremi Zippel said today is about no one other than those who lost their lives a year ago.
“This is a day for our community to remember the tragedies that our community faced. And I think that’s the only space that we need to be holding on this day,” he said.
He describes the events that unfolded a year ago as Israel’s 9/11.
“Remembering what that shock was like a year ago, and more than anything being grateful for those who have been in our corner and have had our backs,” he said.
