West Jordan sets record straight after viral videos allege an ICE raid

WEST JORDAN — The city of West Jordan is setting the record straight after someone posted multiple viral videos of law enforcement officers walking down the street. The woman in the video claimed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were raiding her neighborhood.
That video, posted late last week, shows a swarm of officers on a West Jordan street, many of whom were armed. The woman in the video estimates there were about 50 agents.
However, the city of West Jordan said Monday they are aware of the situation, and those officers were not ICE.
They say those law enforcement officers in the video were actually with the U.S. Marshals Service, arresting someone who was wanted for murder. The U.S. Marshals confirmed that information, but could not say more about the case because it is sealed.
In a written statement, the city clarified: “This incident is not related to immigration enforcement, and the City of West Jordan is not involved in any immigration actions.”
