SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Democratic candidate Michael Bloomberg will be campaign in Utah Saturday. The planned campaign stop all part of his effort to focus on states casting its primary ballots on Super Tuesday.

The former mayor of New York City seems to be going “all-in” on advertising in Utah, with his campaign spending nearly $1.3 trillion on advertising in the state, according to an analysis from Advertising Analytics.

Bloomberg’s campaign in Utah

Bloomberg launched his presidential bid in late November, entering a large pool of candidates vying for the White House. With his launch, the former mayor garnered much attention, especially from President Donald Trump.

After Bloomberg didn’t qualify for the latest Democratic presidential debate, President Trump took to Twitter to lash out saying Bloomberg is a “terrible debater and speaker.” He added that if Bloomberg participated, he would “go down in the polls even more.”

Bloomberg fired back, noting he didn’t qualify because he refuses to accept contributions for his campaign — the billionaire is instead choosing to self-fund his entire campaign.

During the debate, Bloomberg’s campaign team tweeted what they called #BloombergFacts — poking fun at the other candidates, including Bloomberg, throughout the debate.

Coming up next

Bloomberg’s campaign is nearing $1.5 million spent in advertising in Utah alone. He is focusing on the Beehive State on because of its participation in Super Tuesday: the day in a presidential election year when the largest number of states and territories hold a primary or caucus.

Utah is among the 15 states that will be holding a primary event. Over one-third of the country is expected to vote on Super Tuesday which is March 3, 2020.

The campaign event will be held at Impact Hub in downtown Salt Lake City at 4 p.m.
