Lehi’s ‘technology corridor’ gearing up for large freeway construction

Apr 25, 2018, 11:54 AM | Updated: 3:24 pm

LEHI – Construction is about to ramp up at the I-15 “Technology Corridor,” with hopes of improving traffic flow in Lehi.

Gov. Gary Herbert, R-Utah, flew a drone over I-15 close to SR-92 to survey where the construction will take place.

“We’re going to build a bridge across here to get from the west side of Lehi to get to the east side of Lehi,” he said.

“It will be called the Triumph Bridge.”

Gov. Herbert says he has flown bigger drones when visiting the Middle East to study counterterrorism.

Between SR-92 and Lehi Main Street, UDOT will build another interchange, plus two bridges, and more lanes both ways on I-15.

Andrew Howlett with Rain, a digital advertising firm just east of the freeway, hopes construction will allow him to cross the quarter mile of the highway faster.

Some days, it takes 30 minutes.

“It’s going to open up all those small businesses, the restaurants, the service businesses that we can get to much quicker… and vice versa,” Howlett said.

This is a three-year, $500 million bond project.
