Utah processor recalls 100k lbs. of ground beef

SALT LAKE CITY — Just days before Thanksgiving, a Utah processing facility is recalling 100,000 lbs. of ground beef.
The beef from Swift Beef Company in Hyrum may be laced with E. coli, which can cause severe stomach sickness.
The USDA says the beef was produced last month and distributed through Utah and the western U.S.
The inspection numbers on the recalled packages all read “EST. 628” and include the following products:
2,000 lb. – bulk pallets of Swift Ground Beef 81/19 (81 percent lean) Fine Grind Combo bearing product code 42982.
8-10 lb. – plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 81/19 (81 percent lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42410.
8-10 lb. – plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 93/07 (93 percent lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42413.
8-10 lb. – plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 85/15 (85 percent lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42415.
8-10 lb. – plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 73/27 (73 percent lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42510.
Beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees, which must be checked with food thermometers.
To be safe, just throw out the contaminated product.
