WEST JORDAN — UDOT has finished four interchanges along Bangerter Highway from Taylorsville through South Jordan but some residents want a taller wall to protect their homes.

During a ceremony at the new 9000 South intersections, Taylorsville Mayor, Kristie Overson, gave thanks to UDOT, “For listening to our city’s needs, for taking notes and revising quotes, for changing orders and shifting borders.”

New intersections are now open at 5400, 7000, 9000 and 11400 South with a cost of $215 million.

West Jordan resident Brent Jakobson was quick to address the possible safety concerns.Bangerter

“What we’re really concerned with is the safety of our kids… with only a two-foot wall blocking my child from a freeway,” he said.

The current wall along Bangerter sits well below Jakobson’s house, so UDOT is promising a taller wall for $500,000.

UDOT says three more crossings at 6200, 10400 and 12600 South should be ready in two years at a cost of $159 million.
