SALT LAKE CITY — A UFO hearing could take place soon in Washington D.C. after claims by an Air Force veteran that the U.S. government both recovered (and kept secret) an extraterrestrial craft.

The hosts of KSL at Night spoke with Marik Von Rennenkampff, an opinion contributor for The Hill, who calls this an “explosive story.”

The UFO allegations and a secret hearing

“The allegations are that the US government has for decades, housed, retrieved, and reverse-engineered UFOs,” Von Rennenkampff said.

This caught the attention of the inspector general of the intelligence community, who, according to Von Rennenkampff, deemed the allegations “credible and urgent.”

Due to the very sensitive nature of the allegations, Von Rennenkampff believes the hearing, if it were to happen, would be behind closed doors.

In addition to the allegations, there are more reports coming to light on unidentified aerial phenomena.

House Oversight Committee spokesman Austin Hacker told NewsNation that the American people expect this type of investigation from their elected officials.

“In addition to recent claims by a whistleblower, reports continue to surface regarding unidentified aerial phenomena,” Hacker said. “The House Oversight Committee is following these UAP reports and is in the early stages of planning a hearing. The National Defense Authorization Act for 2022 created the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office which coordinates among the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, NASA, and other federal agencies to study UAPs.

“Americans, who continue to fund this federal government work, expect transparency and meaningful oversight from Congress.”

A bipartisan enigma?

Rennenkampff believes that, if the allegations are true both Republicans and Democrats in Congress, and the White House, were kept in the dark for years.

“If this is all true, this would’ve been so deeply tucked away, and compartmented … We know it wasn’t reported to Congress, so if it’s not reported to Congress, it’s not gonna get up to Biden, Trump, Obama, or their senior staff there.

“I know for a fact there’s no way that could remain secret.”

What have they said, and when did they say it?

The Obama Administration

In 2011, a spokesman for the Obama Administration said that the White House “had no evidence” of the existence of extraterrestrial creatures, or evidence that such information was being withheld from Americans.

However, President Obama has also said that the odds are high that life exists elsewhere.

The Trump Administration

In 2019, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy said they’d received “a number of reports” of  “unauthorized or unidentified aircraft” entering military air space in recent years. But in the same year, President Trump said he didn’t “particularly believe” they were UFOs.

The Biden Administration

This week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the alleged whistleblower, and whether we “were alone.” The National Intelligence also released a report in 2021 on the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), which is the new name used for UFOs.

Marik ends the interview by reminding the listeners, “The director of the UFO office as recently as last week said that they (UFOs) are engaging in very interesting apparent maneuvers to include the capability to be stationary in winds aloft, against hurricane force winds.”
