SALT LAKE— Last week, the Salt Lake City planning commission approved a project that will extend the Post District.

The Silos at 568 South 400 West is a three-phase development project that will add over 30,000 square feet of commercial and retail space and 286 apartments.

Phase one of the project uses nearly 20,000 square feet of commercial and retail space to build two new residential buildings and turn two historic warehouses into retail and commercial areas.

BCG Holdings, Catalyst Opportunity Funds and Lowe Property Group are working on this project.

The flour mill and grain silos on 500 South will remain standing tall with the new development.

Developers are looking to build a large public plaza at the core of the development drawing business and publicity.

At the front of the development will be a building named Silo Park. It will include plenty of space for food and beverages to draw the crowds.

Currently, the developers need permission to build up to 85 feet. 60 feet of height is allowed in the General Commercial zone, but another 30 feet may be added if the project receives permission through the design review project.

This project is an addition to MVE Partner’s work in the city and Post District.
