SALT LAKE CITY — Highland High School was temporarily on secure protocol Thursday afternoon, when officials said an adult was brandishing a weapon at Sugar House Park adjacent to the school.
The adult was seen before school was released for the day, so students were held inside as a precautionary measure.
Exterior doors of the school were unlocked and students were released to their parents once officials determined there was no danger.
This story is developing and will be updated.
