SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Football is hosting two big-name guests this weekend: the eighth-ranked Oregon Ducks and ESPN College Gameday.
This morning Utes fans packed President’s Circle for The Pat McAfee Show, kicking off the first visit from ESPN’s College Gameday since 2016. Utes fans, like Colin Frazier, are loving the national media attention for once.
“I think we’re finally getting the respect we deserve,” Frazier said.
Another fan, Jojo Kim, was excited that ESPN’s College Gameday is back after so long.
“It’s awesome, we came here to the first [one] about 7 or 8 years ago when it was here, but yeah this is amazing,” Kim said.
At the start of the show, Pat and another host said they couldn’t believe how many people had come out so early in the morning. Die-hard fans like Kim loved every minute of the national spotlight.
“We don’t get a lot of national you know viewing from just everywhere and I believe that this is one of the biggest things for Salt Lake City, for them to see the Utes play,” he said.
The College Gameday Program kicks off tomorrow morning at seven. The kickoff between Oregon and Utah at Rice Eccles Stadium is at 1:30 p.m., and fans believe they have a good shot to upset the Ducks.
“We’re finally getting the respect we deserve. I think we just gotta show up on the big stage tomorrow,” Frazier said. “Once we get that respect, come back here and realize we got some of the best fans in the country.”
