New partnership provides child care assistance to Park City residents

The Vice President of Community Impact at Upwards Jessa Santangelo, said this partnership will get parents in Park City as much as $1,700 per child, per month in child care assistance.

Santangelo said their goal in Park City is to make sure that parents don’t have to pay more than 10% of their income on child care.

“Sixty-six percent of parents in Park City are paying 10% or more of their income on child care,” Santangelo said.

She said this program will help keep parents in the workforce despite the ever increasing price of child care.

Park City Mayor, Nann Worel said her community spoke out and unaffordable child care costs this year. This partnership was the city’s response.

To be eligible, income must be less than 100% AMI (average median income).

For example, a family of four would need to have a total family income of $148,000 or less to qualify for this program.

Santangelo said at Upwards, they are able to answer any eligibility questions.

“We are definitely looking to expand this program into other communities nearby,” Santangelo said.
