SALT LAKE CITY — The application process for the Utah Fits All Scholarship is now open.
The scholarship will allow families to apply for up to $8,000 of state funds to use for private schools. According to the Utah Fits All Family Handbook, the $8,000 will go into an educational savings account. Students can access the funds through a digital wallet.
The funds can only be used for approved education services and materials like tuition, tutoring, after-school programs, and transportation.
Students must meet the following four criteria:
- they must be a Utah resident,
- they must be a K-12 student in the year for which they’re applying,
- the student cannot enroll full-time in a public district or charter school, and
- they must not be a recipient of the Carson Smith Scholarship or the Special Needs Opportunity Scholarship.
Applications are prioritized based on income.
The scholarship, also known as the school voucher program, was established in 2023 by HB215. This bill was signed into law by Gov. Cox on Jan. 28, 2023.
The eligibility window closes on April 15, 2024.
The scholarship application and more from the handbook are found on the newly launched website for the Utah Fits All Program.
