ROY, Utah — A Roy High School student will be facing criminal charges after they allegedly brought a gun onto school property.
Weber School District said it received a tip Thursday that a student had a gun in their vehicle. When police stopped the student, they found an unloaded firearm in a case in the trunk of the car.
The district said that despite having no reason to believe the student meant to cause harm, they will be facing criminal charges and disciplinary action.
The district also said this is the third time in two weeks that Roy High students were found to have guns. The incidents weren’t related, but the district asked parents to speak to their kids about the consequences of bringing guns to school.
