Search and rescue underway for 2 missing people in Grand County

MOAB, Utah — According to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, two people have gone missing in the Steel Bender off-road trail area. A press release stated a search and rescue effort is underway.
Several local and national agencies are assisting the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, Mesa County Search and Rescue is helping. Mesa County is in Colorado.
The missing people are said to be one male and one female who were recreating in the area. Their utility terrain vehicle was found abandoned.
The Grand County Sheriff’s office is asking the public to stay away from the area as they search by ground and air.
The search began this morning
According to the Sheriff’s Office, officials received a report about the abandoned UTV this morning. It was later connected to the missing people, who were identified as an “overdue party.”
