SPANISH FORK, Utah — Two people safely evacuated their fifth-wheel trailer after it caught fire early Thursday in Spanish Fork.
Spanish Fork firefighters believe the refrigerator in the trailer was to blame for the fire.
“The occupants stated that they had trouble with the fridge over the last week,” said Battalion Chief Jon Grangroth with Spanish Fork Fire Department and EMS.
The fire near 5700 S. and 3600 W. started early, Grangroth said. They were called at 3:33 a.m.
The trailer was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. By that time the two people had already evacuated the trailer Grangroth said.
The fire was reportedly put out by firefighters within 15 minutes of their arrival.
There were no injuries reported, however, Grangroth said the trailer was a total loss. All of the contents in the trailer were burned by the fire. According to Grangroth, the estimated total damages are as much as $7,000.
Grangroth said a nearby trailer did receive some heat damage. Two trees were singed, but the fire did not extend beyond that point.
