SALT LAKE CITY — There are a lot of people out there who aren’t bold enough to open the bosses’ office door and shout “Take this job and shove it.”
A lot of people dream about the day they’ll someday tell their irascible employer that they’re done. Finished. Kaput. So long. Farewell. Sayonara.
But for many folks, confrontation is scary. It’s not easy to quit your job. And even the idea of walking in to quit leaves them trembling. So they languish in lousy jobs that are barely worth the money.
This is an opportunity my friends, as we learn from Japan.
A land where timidity is the norm. Employers in Japan do not only frown upon confrontation but avoid it at all possible costs. So when it’s time to quit your job in Japan, well, they do things a little differently.
This American woman explains how crazy it was for her on TikTok.

“As soon as I turned in my resignation letter, it was like a criminal trial had started,” she explained. “My boss, my boss’s boss, my boss’s boss’s boss — they sat down and grilled me. They for real wanted an apology with tears.”
“It was not enough to tell them that I had gotten a better job,” she continued. “They wanted to know all the details.”
So people stay in their jobs but now Japan has a company called Exit. One among many that quits your job for you. They’ll tell your boss when your last day is, take the heat and charge you 200 dollars just to say “Y’know Jim in shipping? Well, he says ‘I quit.'” Then hang up.
This has to be an opportunity. Say you market your services and quit on behalf of 40 people here in Utah. That’s $8,000. It’s a legitimate side hustle. And if you want to quit doing it? It’s your business. You only have to look in the mirror and say “Take this job and shove it.”
