SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz confirm they are ending their partnership with Papa John’s after a report that the founder used a racial slur during a company meeting, an NBA source tells the Deseret News.

The Jazz had the Jazz50 promotion, where when the team won, you could get 50 percent off pizza the next day.

According to the Deseret News’s source, the organization says they will not renew their partnership when their contract runs out before the 2018-2019 season starts.

Utah Jazz are not alone in slicing pizza ties

More than a dozen other sports franchises across the country have also suspended contracts with the pizza chain.

The University of Utah also announced a review of its Papa John’s contract, saying it is evaluating other options for its campus food court.

Their statement reads:

“The University of Utah strives to be a welcoming and inclusive place for people of all backgrounds. As a result, the University of Utah is reviewing its Papa John’s contract and evaluating other options for the Union food court. Additionally, the U. has taken immediate action to remove all images of John Schnatter from the location and is working to replace the pizza boxes featuring his image.”

We want to hear from you.
