FEC: Love corrected fundraising records; Opponents: probe continues

SALT LAKE CITY — The Federal Election Commission (FEC) says Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) needs no further corrective action for money she raised for a primary campaign she didn’t run.

But a Utah group says its FEC complaint hasn’t been fully resolved.

Alliance for a Better Utah, whose founder supports her opponent, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams, wanted the probe.

Josh Kanter has contributed money to McAdams’ campaign.

“I think that he’s that unethical that he should pull out of this race, if he is willing to just try and destroy a fellow Utahn for political gain,” Love told KSL’s Dave and Dujanovic show.

McAdams had previously appointed the Alliance founder’s wife, Catherine, to the County’s Mountain Planning Commission.

“I appoint hundreds of people to boards as well, and happy that she’s willing to serve on a planning commission,” he said. “But that has nothing to do with Rep. Love.”

McAdams won’t quit Utah’s fourth congressional district race. Love kept most of the money for her general election campaign.
