CENTERVILLE, Utah — The Deuel Creek Fire in Centerville is now entirely out, but there are still no suspects identified in how it began.

Utah Fire Info took to Twitter Wednesday afternoon to say the fire is 100% contained.

This comes after days of firefighters fighting to put out the blaze.

Recap of the Deuel Creek Fire

The fire began late on Sunday, July 3. According to Utah Fire Info, the fire started burning in the foothills of Centerville before strong winds pushed it toward homes.

Over the course of its burning, a total of 300 homes were evacuated, and none were damaged. While this was happening, two Centerville churches took in evacuated residents.

The Centerville Police Department announced at around 6 a.m. on Monday, July 4, that the evacuation order was lifted and residents may return to their homes. According to the police department, the fire is believed to be human-caused, most likely by fireworks.

In addition to forcing many Centerville citizens to flee their homes, the fire caused the cancelation of two of the town’s Independence Day events. The Centerville City Parade and Freedom Run were both called off due to the blaze.

Utah Fire Info reported on July 4 that the Deuel Creek Fire had burned 128 acres while being 0% contained.

On Tuesday, July 5, fire officials from the U.S. Forest Service and the Utah Department of Natural Resources said the fire was 10% contained and now affected 129 acres.

Utah fire investigators are asking that anyone with information or footage of the fire contact the Centerville Police Department at 801-292-8441.
