SALT LAKE CITY — Utah drivers are the most confrontational in the nation, according to a study from Forbes Advisor

In conducting the study, a team from Forbes Advisor analyzed 10 key metrics from a survey. Out of 100 points possible, Utah earned a score of 100 to place first on the list.

According to the findings, 76% of those Utahns who participated in the study say another driver has honked at them in frustration. Additionally, 58% of Utahns say they have been on the receiving end of obscene gestures.

Furthermore, 73% of Utah drivers surveyed say another driver has tailgated them. And 47% of the surveyed drivers from Utah say another motorist has exceeded the speed limit just to prevent them from changing lanes.

A little more than a quarter of the Utah drivers surveyed (27%) say they know someone in the state who has been injured as a result of a road rage incident.

Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma and New Mexico were also found to have the most confrontational drivers in the country.

The states with the fewest road rage encounters were North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida and New York.

According to the study, 22% of respondents say they witnessed someone cause an accident due to road rage.

The study also asks respondents what the top confrontational driving behavior they have experienced is. A majority of those who responded (63%) say being honked at. And 62% of the respondents say being tailgated was the most confrontational form of road rage that they have experienced.
