SALT LAKE CITY — During the month of November, Rocky Mountain Power is providing a way for its customers to help those in need stay warm, through the Lend a Hand program.

According to a news release from RMP, the company will donate $2 for every $1 donated by customers up to $120,000.

The Lend a Hand program was created to help those individuals on a limited income to keep heat and lights on in their homes.

According to the news release, the program generated more than $236,000 in 2021. The RMP donations provided assistance to 3,047 people in 802 homes last year.

“We are very grateful to our customers who generously support this wonderful program,” said Rocky Mountain Power’s community relations director Lucky Morse in the news release. “The donations help working families, seniors and individuals with access and functional needs throughout our community.”

Contributions for Lend a Hand

Contribution envelopes for the program will be included in the monthly bill for those who receive their bill by mail. Those customers who pay their bill online can request a donation envelope be sent to them.

The program allows customers to donate any dollar amount, beginning with $1. It is then added to their monthly bill.

According to the news release, all contributions are forwarded to the Salvation Army. The organization then confirms the eligibility of recipients and provides the funds to those individuals who qualify.
